My son is 8 and my daughter is 6. The toys I got them last year were not played with. My son has a Nintendo DSi already, so they play with that every now and then. She enjoys drawing and all things girly, play makeup and jewelry. My son also enjoys football and art. I know the basic art supllies, movies, and jewelry and makeup, but can you give me some ideas that maybe I’m not thinking of? My dad got me a sterling silver necklace with a sapphire in the middle last Christmas and it’s gotten quite dirty since then because of constant wear and I was wondering if there are any “home remedies” for cleaning this type of jewelry since I don’t have the money to get it professionally cleaned or to get a cleaner for it at the moment. Thanks for any info!

My Father-in-law loves looking at the cut, clairty etc..he watches the gem network type shows, has the money and buys the jewelry..goes to pawn shops to find pieces etc. However this is a hobby for him. I thought perhaps as a Christmas gift a subscription to a publication that may help him with identifying diamonds and other gems and their value info would be nice.
