The Rockefeller center Christmas Tree Lighting is an event I always wanted to go to.?

Has any one here ever gone there? What is the best way to go from the Hamptons, Long Island? Is hiring a limo a good idea? I want to take my 12 yr old. I myself have never been to the city. I am so afraid of getting lost in the big city with my child. Please offer as much advice to a mom and child as you’d like! Thanks so much!

*MaDiSoN* is missing Mr. Kennedy

I go to the city a lot and have never gone for Christmas yet(as an adult). When I was a child I went to see the Rockettes and that was it. I believe I went to see Macy’s windows too. I was there the other day and got to see them! It’s not the same though, it didn’t seem to fit just yet. It was nice though, you can tell Christmas is just around the corner…it had a Christmas feel in the air already!
In NYC every single day…it’s packed. The limo sounds like a nice idea. It’s better then you having to deal with all of the traffic and such. Just keep an eye open and stay close to one another. Everything is so nice there. At the lighting ceremony there are a lot of families, so you won’t feel out of place lol. Just enjoy every second you are there. It’s really something special. I got goosebumps just thinking about it! I really hope I get to go see the tree this year, or even just spend a day there after it’s lit up. I hope you go and have a great time!!

both of my parents were on broadway so i spent my childhood in the city. if you’re so close to the city you should definitely go. My parents brought me a few times a week and I never got lost, and the streets just go in numerical order so it’s hard to get lost per se. I would definitely go to see the lighting. It’s so much fun especially as a child to see that giant tree and having it lite up in front of youre eyes is really magical. If you go be sure to go to Saks fifth ave (its not on fifth avenue anymore) but they have a light show to carol of the bells that’s really cool too. Also, go to the Macy and other windows they’re really fun to see. I hope you get the chance to go, Merry Christmas!
