Codex Aureus Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle
Product Description
This 266 piece puzzle is an 11th century telling of the Christmas story from the Bible. The top left panel shows the angel Gabriel coming to tell Mary that she will be having a baby. The middle panel shown Mary and Joseph in the manger. The baby Jesus can be seen above them. The bottom panel shown the three wise men asking King Herod where they can find the king of kings so they can bring the baby gifts and worship him. This 266 piece puzzle is challenging because there are only two different connectors and many false edges (click on the small picture underneath the puzzle image to see example puzzle pieces). This is folio 18 of Codex Aureus Epternacensis, an illuminated manuscript from the 11th century, created by monks whose exact names have been lost to history. This puzzle is really really hard because all of the connectors between pieces are the same, so to put the puzzle together one has only color and image cues only (as with our Hokusai Dragon and Eiffel Tower puzzles). Puzzle is made of 1/4″ wood and packaged in our standard wood box.
